Divide the comments in comments thread using HR

Currently, the comments are indented and threaded.
However, visually, its not appealing since one has to really see where one comment ends and another commences.

Using horizontal rules, or css based alternate row colouring or by any other suitable means, can we have the rows of individual comments and discussion threads distinguished for visual clarity?
