Add SSL to your Widget

We would like to include your widget to a site which is secured via SSL.

Including the widget now leads to warnings from the browser that some elements are not secured.

Would be great if you could ad SSL to the pages needed by the widget.

I've customised the Joomla version of the widget to support https - very simple- detect https and substitute https or http for every image or js url in the code. However, it complains about one file:

https://widget.idea.informer.com/tabn2v3.js

So presumably widget.idea.informer.com is not yet set up to work under https? Fix this and you are well on the way.

However the joomla module seems broken in other ways - missing images, so sometimes window cannot be closed etc. Shame but I've reached a dead end making this work...

It seems that if I ditch the buggy Joomla module and just use the widget things are much simpler and it works with SSL.

ah - it works but is ridden with insecure content :-( ah well can't really use this on an ecommerce site until that is fixed.

Any updates on when this will be available?

Would appreciate it :)

If you could just setup a sym-link between your HTTP and HTTPS folders and get a valid wildcard certificate from Go Daddy or similar this issue would be resolved. I've recently been using this product a bit more and would definitely pay for it if that is what is necessary to get SSL access... for the time being I've deleted all Javascript from the widget and have a basic HREF to the page until we see some SSL added to Idea.Informer.

FYI - Browsers through a fit when you load the widgets into an otherwise secure environment.

iiVoice, 19.11.2012, 14:42
Not for now, unfortunately.
We're working on new version of Idea.Informer.
Thank you for your patience

We'd like to use the widget on our page (secured) as well. Do you have any updates on this?

Thanks in advance!

Not yet, unfortunately.

Looking over the history (2011) of this thread, I'm disappointed that there has been no updates to using this great tool with SSL IN 2014
sitterheim, 22.07.2015, 11:44
You mean 2015 ... :(

what do you expect for free?
nemestats, 28.03.2016, 01:49
Sure would be nice to have this.
phplicengine, 08.08.2016, 12:29
Just wanted to add this problem and noticed this is reported already. So I vote up.
Any update when it will be fixed?
phplicengine, 08.08.2016, 12:30
Oh! I noticed this is scheduled since 2010! I think we should avoid your service! :-(
ElthosRPG, 23.02.2018, 03:45
Yes. This is dead in the water because even after 8 years they have no support for SSL. WOW... Thanks for the waste of time.
roeland, 18.03.2018, 14:50
Surely it must work with https. Otherwise what would be the point of idea?!
micostan, 29.02.2020, 15:09
Years gone still pending. OMG
